The Only Beauty Mask You Need This Summer

This face mask is one of my personal favourites. It’s super quick and simple, and will leave your skin feeling hydrated during the warm weather season. It contains only two ingredients, which are probably already sitting on your pantry, and it’s suited for all skin types, even the delicate one. Whether you're looking for an inexpensive or a powerful skin treatment, you gotta give this mask a try.

Ingredient #1: Honey

Invest in raw Mānuka honey with a high UMF rating, especially if you struggle with breakouts, redness or irritations. Raw honey is not processed, heated, or pasteurized during it's production process, so it retains potent nutrients like vitamins B, C and live enzymes. It will give you an extra boost of hydration to eliminate the appearance of dullness and give your skin a refreshed look.

Why Mānuka?

Though all raw, unheated honeys have health benefits, Mānuka has higher therapeutic properties than other varieties. It promotes skin regeneration, repairs cellular damage and lessens scarring. Plus it retains moisture without making your skin oily.

One the hero compounds of Mānuka honey is methylglyoxal (MG). Unlike other types of honey, MG is found in high concentration in the nectar of Mānuka flowers and it remains bioactive even after bees have transformed the nectar into honey. The higher its concentration, the more potent the honey’s antibacterial powers and UMF rating. So look for a UMF rating of 10 or higher.

Ingredient #2: Cinnamon

Packed full of potent antioxidants, vitamins and minerals, cinnamon promotes blood circulation. By bringing blood close beneath the surface of the skin cinnamon nourishes skin cells and promotes new cell turn over. It is usually used in face masks and beauty products due to its antimicrobial and antibiotic effects that defend your skin from irritations, rashes, inflammation and infections.

Let’s make it

Preparing this mask is really simple, making it easy to use 2 to 3 times a week.

Ingredients

  • 1 teaspoon of raw Mānuka honey, 10+ UMF rating
  • 1 pinch of cinnamon

Method

  1. Mix your ingredients and place the mixture in the fridge for a cooling effect.
  2. Steam your skin and pat your face dry with a soft towel.
  3. Use your hands to apply the mixture gently over your entire face.
  4. Leave it on for at least 15 minutes, or as long as an hour.
  5. Rinse your face with cool water and pat your face dry with a washcloth.

Use this mask twice per week and pay close attention to any changes in your skin conditions. Can’t wait to try out? Go ahead and let us know what you thought.
